A week in the life you don’t often hear about…

Nick Rice’s week is one of those where you hear everything he’s involved in and you genuinely ask… when does he have time for all of it?

He’s a Client Accountant at Acclaim during the week, Treasurer for Code Club and Isle of Man Friends of the Earth, Secretary of EPSA Isle of Man, and he still spends his Saturdays teaching kids to code in Douglas.

Read below to see what his week actually looks like. 👇

P.S. This is not his everyday outfit… just this year’s Christmas party costume.

Meet Nick Rice

Client Accountant

One of the busiest humans you’ll meet, someone who genuinely loves his community, and is quietly hilarious.
And yes, he supports Everton (as you can probably tell from the photo).

Before work

Before work, it’s the usual: up, coffee, quick check-in at home, then straight into the day.

On the clock

During the week, Nick’s a Client Accountant at Acclaim, keeping client work moving and staying on top of the details that can’t slip. And somehow, that’s just one part of the story.

Outside of Acclaim, he’s also Treasurer for Code Club and Isle of Man Friends of the Earth, meaning he’s the one keeping budgets and plans in check so those projects actually keep running. He’s also Secretary of EPSA Isle of Man, helping with fundraising to support a dedicated epilepsy health nurse on the Island.

After work

After work, he’s back into family mode. He takes his youngest out drone flying, and he’s always doing little practical tech projects with the kids, the kind of stuff that’s fun, but also teaches them a lot without it feeling like “learning.”

Weekend

Saturday afternoons are a big one. He runs the local Code Club at St Matthew’s Church Hall in Douglas, teaching kids (around 7–15) coding and electronics with hands-on projects and it’s all very Christmas-themed right now.

And yes, he still shows up for Friends of the Earth too… including the time he turned up dressed as a bee for a kids’ event.

Win of the week

All of it. Balancing Acclaim, family, and multiple community roles and still doing an amazing job in every one.

Plus, Code Club got real recognition last month, winning Education & Learning Initiative of the Year at the Isle of Man Awards for Excellence 2025, and Tech Team of the Year at the Digital Isle of Man Tech Awards 2025.
