Our Head of Compliance, Jackie, has officially passed the ICA Diploma in Governance, Risk and Compliance. She now adds Dip(GRC) to her name alongside Cert.Prac(MLRO).

Here’s how Jackie put it:

“As a Chartered Governance professional since 1999 with the CGI, I’ve always worked in compliance—first managing the function alongside a client portfolio, and later as Head of Compliance. With rapid changes in regulation and technology, I wanted to refresh my knowledge into ‘modern speak.’

So, I enrolled with the ICA for their Diploma in Governance, Risk and Compliance. At the same time, I also studied for the Certified Money Laundering Officer qualification, while working full-time as HoC/MLRO. It was a huge time commitment, especially in the early days, but now I’ve finished. I can now add Cert.Prac(MLRO) and Dip(GRC) to my name.

The last time I wrote an assignment or essay was 25 years ago—quite possibly before many of my compliance colleagues were born. My takeaway: don’t be afraid, or too set in your ways, to refresh your training.

To quote Robert Frost: ‘Now when I am old my teachers are the young. What can’t be moulded must be cracked and sprung. I strain at lessons fit to start a suture. I go to school to youth to learn the future.’

We’re proud of Jackie’s achievement. It’s a reminder that growth never stops, no matter how much experience you bring to the table.
