Nicholas Rice Attends Isle of Man Economic Substance Seminar
On Thursday, 16 October, our Client Accountant, Nicholas Rice, attended the Isle of Man Economic Substance Seminar at the Manx Museum Lecture Theatre.
The seminar, hosted by the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) (Isle of Man Branch), featured presentations from Clare Kelly, Amanda Reid, and Monica Dixie. The session covered the fundamentals of Economic Substance tax declarations on the Isle of Man and explored the complexities within three key sectors: Finance and Leasing, Distribution and Service Centre, and IP / High-Risk IP Companies.
The speakers addressed recurring errors commonly seen in Economic Substance returns, highlighting how mistakes could lead to fines, strike-offs, or even custodial sentences for company officers, reinforcing the importance of accuracy and compliance in every filing.
Reflecting on the event, Nick shared:
“It was a great opportunity to gain deeper insight into how Economic Substance continues to evolve in practice. Understanding these updates is vital to ensure we stay compliant and continue delivering the highest standards for our clients.”
A highly informative session and an important reminder of the value of continued professional development within the industry.
