Acclaim CEO flies flag for IOM at International Space University course

Acclaim founder and CEO Brian Byers recently attended a week-long course at the International Space University’s (ISU) Central Campus in Strasbourg.

He was one of 17 participants who attended the Executive Space Course which attracted participants from 11 countries, including the USA, Luxembourg, Norway, South Korea and Singapore. Brian was the only representative from the Isle of Man.

It began with a welcome address by former ISU President, Juan de Dalmau. More than a dozen experts – including scientists, business leaders, academics and a former European Space Agency astronaut – delivered presentations and workshops on subjects ranging from policy and law, to entrepreneurship, engineering, and satellite applications.

Brian Byers commented: “Acclaim has been experiencing growth in the space/satellite sector in recent times and I thought attending this course would be a good way to build on our knowledge in order to better serve our clients. The course has been offered online only for the last two years due to the pandemic. I am grateful to Rachel Beattie of ManSat for not only recommending the course, but for suggesting that I would benefit from attending in person. My fellow students represented many different disciplines within the sector including engineers, environmental scientists, regulators, space agencies and the military. I got so much more from the course by being able to interact with these people in person. I also got the opportunity to meet an astronaut, and got some candid answers to questions that you won’t find on Wikipedia!”

Brian will be representing Acclaim at the International Astronautical Congress in Paris in September this year.
